Of the 115 hate crimes, 100 were categorised as \u2018race\u2019, nine as \u2018homophobic\u2019, three as \u2018faith\u2019, two as \u2018gender – transphobic\u2019 and one as \u2018other\u2019 sexual orientation discrimination.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

See those figures? That\u2019s when we call \u201cracism\u201d by another name and fail to address it as a social ill. Under the umbrella of \u201chate crime\u201d, we do not need to offer a historical context to dismantle the different institutionalized ways in which racism is not just expressed but openly endorsed through policy and public discourse.
