Some people rightfully pointed that currently Obama does not have the capability to grant a pardon for a person sentenced to death like Troy Davis. Instead, such executive capacity rests in the hands of the Governor of the State where the person is going to be executed. In the case of Troy Davis, that would be Georgia’s governor.<\/p>\n

To that, I’d like to point out that in both 2009<\/a> and 2010<\/a>, Georgia held Turkey Pardon ceremonies, headed in both cases by the\u00a0Commissioner\u00a0of Agriculture, an elected position enshrined in Georgia’s Constitution.<\/a><\/p>\n

So, obviously the State of Georgia does participate in Turkey Pardon shenanigans while it executes men like Troy Davis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
