An heterogenous extreme right wing group in The Netherlands has created a list of “traitors to the country”<\/a>. This is a death list in a similar vein to the one Anders Breivik, the young man behind the massacre in Norway used to keep. In this list (link above in Dutch, but you can pass it through google translator as the text is rather simple), a good friend of mine has been pointed as a “traitor” and as such, it is suggested he should be killed. This friend of mine, Jeroen Mirck<\/a>, is not just someone I care about because we are friends and go out and share a social life but because his politics and mine are very close as well.<\/p>\n

Aside from expressing my solidarity and support of my friend, I wanted to point out that this is the climate of terror we are currently dealing with. This is the political climate where, expressing ideas that support minorities and refusing to demonize certain groups for the benefit of a dominant culture will get you on a death list.<\/p>\n
