We\u2019ve got assumptions about what \u2018real food\u2019 is, assumptions about resource availability, shaming and blaming for people who can\u2019t\/don\u2019t cook \u2018real food,\u2019 and a nice side of \u2018well, she <\/em>can get up 6:30 am to do food prep, why can\u2019t you?\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Ok, I don’t know if I should laugh or cry (a new emotion like cryaugh maybe?) reading the comments. Take the first one<\/a>, it reads like copy from some marketing pamphlet for Weight Watchers:<\/p>\n

Getting dinner on the table is a struggle for any Mom, working or SAHM. But it can be done, and I\u2019ve learned, from 18 months on Weight Watchers, that it can be done without relying on pre-packaged garbage. I\u2019ve learned tricks and shortcuts; I cook chicken breasts in ridiculously large amounts so I can slice them and use them in salads, wraps, and fajitas, and I spend obscene amounts of money on pre-sliced\/chopped\/diced produce, but it has paid off for my family in a big way. Do I have convenience foods that I turn to on busy nights? Yep. But they don\u2019t come from a box or a drive through. Convenience foods used to be Hamburger Helper or Stouffer\u2019s Lasagne. Now? It\u2019s soup and salad or grilled cheese on whole grain bread with fruit or quesadillias and black beans. It just takes a little retraining. And soon, it becomes unthinkable to eat the way you did before. I\u2019ve lost 75 lbs, my husband has lost 65lbs, and my youngest son, who was developing a weight problem, has gone down three pants sizes. Even my oldest son, who is naturally tall and lean, has benefitted. It\u2019s worth the effort to form new habits.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I don’t know why I read it with the voiceover tone of a late night TV commercial. I insist, I seriously wonder if Weight Watchers is not astroturfing the comment section of Ms. Blogs because the above doesn’t sound like it is a casual comment to discuss the issue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
