Certainly not in the same Amsterdam I live. And believe me, I live in the one area of the city (Nieuwe West) that he brings up again and again as the “Islamic Paradise” that “Netherlands should eliminate”. This is a predominantly non White neighborhood. And it infuriates me how my experiences are completely different from the realities that he describes. How MY Amsterdam (and yes, by now, this is MY city and MY country as much as it is his), is so different from the society he speaks about.<\/p>\n
Where is this Sharia Law implemented? I am sincere in my question because it certainly is not happening in my Amsterdam. The dozens of politically involved Muslims (some of them my fellow party members at D66, many members of PvdA) who work hard and passionately in the city council and local community centers; the parents of children who play in the park adjacent to my house who are as “integrated” into the country’s life as my husband (who is the typically blond, blue eyed Native Dutch that Wilders claims to speak on behalf of). All of my life experience is erased by the nonsense he publishes.<\/p>\n
