See, I come across stuff like this<\/a>. And the photo is relevant to a very specific event, The Slut Walk. And the signs and the depictions are relevant to the issues that generated the event in the first place.<\/p>\n

But then, of course, the iconography is taken out of the situational and contextual frameworks that made the photo relevant in the first place. And what was originally meant to be empowering and reclaiming ends up being used to promote exactly the culture and mindset the march was set up against.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t have anything meaningful to say, except to ask myself how do we combat this phenomenon of misappropriating images and discourse to be used against us? I wonder to what extent this happened before we became so digitally audivisual<\/em>. And I also know there is no simple answer to these questions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
