Calling someone &ldquo;crazy&rdquo; doesn&rsquo;t signal racism anymore than calling them any other insult. &ldquo;Crazy&rdquo; is ableist, but we cannot prove beyond doubt that there was a racist intent behind it. If I called you &ldquo;crazy&rdquo;, knowing what you know about me (racially, socially, culturally), would that be your reaction to my words? I think we owe it to everyone to apply the same parameters, when judging intent, that we would wish applied for ourselves. At least until proven wrong.<\/p>\n<p>MizJenkins has made very problematic statements about Latinos. As a Latina myself, do you think it would have been acceptable that I label her &ldquo;racist&rdquo; and engage in an ad hominem attack accordingly? Instead, I choose to engage in a debate in an attempt to find and disarm the root cause of the prejudice. I didn&rsquo;t subscribe to racism what could have easily been explained by other causes.
