As previously reported, NBC is developing an New York-set remake of the BAFTA-winning Prime Suspect<\/em><\/a>, the UK police drama starring Helen Mirren<\/strong> as Tennison, a female Detective Chief Inspector battling sexism on a male-dominated force. The gritty and often gruesome British series became iconic and had an interesting rollout schedule: seven brief Prime Suspect<\/em> mini-series premiered between 1991 and 2006 in the UK.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

A remake of Prime Suspect? No. Just NO. You know it’s going to be watered down beyond recognition, turned into a CSI Miami meets Sex and the City aesthetics. Tennison will wear Armani suits and Loboutin shoes (a feature in CSI Miami) and will be pretty, pretty eye candy, devoid of all the complexity and conflicts of the original character.
