The whole goal of making this movie was to make a very funny, very honest movie about women in a way that they\u2019re not normally made\u2026Both Judd and I feel women are very much underserved by modern comedy, because it\u2019s all so guy-centric.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Paul Feig and Judd Apatow Aim to Do Right By Women with ‘Bridesmaids’<\/a><\/p>\n

Look, Mr. Feig, I am sure you mean well. The movie you directed is written by Kristen Wiig so, unless you are really, really bad, it should contain some funny moments. But the quote above is insulting and condescending, seeing how very few women directors are given the chance at directing potential blockbusters. Aside from Kathryn Bigelow (who, in clever moments of media misogyny is usually referred to as “one of the boys”), there aren’t many women making movies. Period. Not just “underserved by modern comedy”.<\/p>\n

The fact that a dude was commissioned to direct this, instead of giving an opportunity to a woman (what? Will someone tell me that all the women I met throughout the years, studying Film direction and production do not exist?) says enough about Hollywood.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
