Speaking of Arab political activism, this is quite possibly my favorite cover of The Clash, Rachid Taha – Rock El Casbah<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since Rachid Taha is an Algerian musician, I think this is a pretty appropiate tidbit to include here:<\/p>\n

On 30 March 2006, 23-year-old Harraj Mann, who is of Indian descent, was detained on terrorism suspicions at Durham Tees Valley Airport in Northern England as he tried to board a plane to London. The man had taken a cab to the airport and plugged his MP3 player into the cab\u2019s stereo, where he played \u201cLondon Calling\u201d (\u201cLondon calling to the faraway towns, now war is declared and battle come down\u201d) and Led Zeppelin\u2019s \u201cImmigrant Song\u201d<\/strong>. The lyrics aroused the driver\u2019s suspicions, and he alerted the authorities. The man was subsequently cleared, but he missed his flight. (Source)<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
