Lesson learned? Mainstream media will act outraged by these grand total of 9 men falling prey to a con artist but will only give timid responses to a piece of legislation affecting thousands of (if not more) people. <\/li>\n<li>Jezebel&rsquo;s analysis of <a href=\"http:\/\/jezebel.com\/5646398\/fashion-week-diversity-by-the-numbers?skyline=true&amp;s=i\">New York Fashion Week, Diversity by the numbers <\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5SFncmn3pTs\">Great Video on &ldquo;What is Good Design&rdquo;?<\/a> 8 Designers give their definition for the UK&rsquo;s Design Council <\/li>\n<li>On Monday, I attended TEDxChange and wrote about it, particularly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redlightpolitics.info\/post\/1161000268\/marketing-vs-advertising-for-social-issues\">the difference between Marketing and Advertising for Social Causes.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>In other &ldquo;<em>look who I am comparing myself to<\/em>&rdquo; news, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/09\/26\/fashion\/26TEDX.html?_r=2&amp;scp=1&amp;sq=opening%20up%20an%20elite%20brand%20to%20the%20masses&amp;st=cse\">The New York Times also has a great piece on TEDxChange <\/a><\/li>\n<li>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/thecurvature.com\/2010\/09\/23\/north-carolina-consent-to-sex-cannot-be-withdrawn\/\">this court ruling in North Carolina<\/a>, once a sexual encounter has been initiated, consent cannot be withdrawn <\/li>\n<li>Found out about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.culturemondo.org\/\">Culturemondo<\/a>, a network of people working in cultural services around the world <\/li>\n<li>Helen Fisher, Biological Antropologist and Rutgers University Professor says &ldquo;<a href=\"http:\/\/bigthink.com\/ideas\/18575\">Casual Sex doesn&rsquo;t exist; every hook up is just an excuse to search for love<\/a>&rdquo;. Eh, I won&rsquo;t touch that statement with a ten foot pole (see above my points about what is by now, an indisputable fact: &ldquo;<em>I am arrogant and have the nerve to disagree with those who know better<\/em>&rdquo;). <\/li>\n<li>Dutch ethicist Jacob Appel claims that <a href=\"http:\/\/bigthink.com\/ideas\/23047\">life doesn&rsquo;t begin at conception, or even at birth\u00a0<\/a>(I had troubles with this one as what he proposes and endorses made me very uncomfortablel: euthanasia (with or without parent&rsquo;s consent) for severely disabled babies\/ children).<\/li>\n<li>Privilege abounds! <a href=\"http:\/\/foursquare.com\/cnn\">CNN and Foursquare partner to create a &ldquo;Healthy Eater Badge&rdquo;<\/a> for those who shop at Farmer&rsquo;s Markets (what will happen to my &ldquo;Major of KFC&rdquo; 4sq merit?!) Let&rsquo;s recap the bare necessities to earn such badge: 1) access to a farmer&rsquo;s market; 2) funds to shop there 3) a mobile phone with mobile internet access to check into Foursquare; 4) access to a TV with CNN to even know this initiative exists. Hmmm, yes, &ldquo;Healthy Eater Badge&rdquo; indeed!<\/li>\n<li>Found out about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.withings.com\/en\/index\/?taranim=1\">Withings<\/a>, &ldquo;<em>the first WiFi body scale that automatically records your weight, fatty mass and BMI and auto tweets it on your behalf<\/em>&rdquo;. YES! Because after I get my &ldquo;Healthy Eater Badge&rdquo;, I want everyone to know what a good non fatty I am! I WANT THE WORLD TO HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE FOR MY BMI! I WANT TO BE PUBLICLY SHAMED IF I STRAY! #selfesteembedamned<\/li>\n<li>In &ldquo;<em>more food related news<\/em>&rdquo;, <a href=\"http:\/\/greengrey.tumblr.com\/post\/1180820711\/my-dinner-was-beyond\">greengrey pointed us\u00a0 to what has to be the best pumpkin\/ pasta combination<\/a> I&rsquo;ve seen so far and <a href=\"http:\/\/heidikinscooks.wordpress.com\/2009\/10\/12\/gnocchi-with-pumpkin-parmesan-sauce\/\">what is likely to become my dinner tonight <\/a><\/li>\n<li>Read about the &ldquo;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/science\/2010\/sep\/23\/flies-murder-natural-history-museum\">Lords of the Flies: the insect detectives<\/a>&rdquo; Where the police and pathologists fail, flies and maggots \u2013 and the Natural History Museum&rsquo;s forensic entomologists \u2013 can solve even the most difficult of murders <\/li>\n<li>Watched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FSG_WZJ_Vec\">this video<\/a> from Bill Johnson of &ldquo;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.storyispromise.com\/\"><em>A Story is a Promise<\/em><\/a>&rdquo; about the art of story telling and how to get into &ldquo;<em>what the story is really about<\/em>&rdquo;. Very good points for both fiction and non fiction story development.<\/li>\n<li>Since we are on the subject of storytelling, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zooburst.com\/\">I came across ZooBurst<\/a>, a neat website that &ldquo;<em>lets anyone easily create his or her own 3D pop-up books. ZooBurst books \u201clive\u201d online and can be experienced using nothing more than a web browser running the Adobe Flash plug-in. Authors can arrange characters and props within a 3D world that can be customized using uploaded artwork or items found in a built-in database of over 10,000 free images and materials<\/em>&rdquo;. <\/li>\n<li>Found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.good.is\/post\/want-to-track-settlements-in-the-west-bank-there-s-an-app-for-that\/\">this iPhone application to track Israeli settlements in the West Bank<\/a> (who said technology didn&rsquo;t have sociopolitical implications?).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theparisreview.org\/interviews\">The excellent Paris Review has just opened up its archive<\/a>, a half-century worth of fascinating interviews with some of the greatest literary figures in modern history. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brainpickings.org\/index.php\/2010\/09\/24\/paris-review-archive\/\">Brain Pickings has selected a nice collection of quotes from it <\/a>. &ldquo;<em>The idea that addiction is somehow a psychological illness is, I think, totally ridiculous.
