Ayaan Hirsi Ali: We Must Speak Honestly About Islam | FrumForum<\/a><\/p>\n

Now, every time I see her name, I have to take deep breaths so that I do not hyperventilate and eventually develop a seizure. Coincidentally, I just finished writing a piece for my Dutch Politics blog<\/a> about the man who took the Anti Islam torch from her in The Netherlands: Geert Wilders.<\/p>\n

Here are some things about her that the International Press almost never mentions: her public image, her personal narrative (which has been proven to be based on several lies and ended up being the subject of several Parliamentary debates in The Netherlands, one of which cost Rita Verdonk her Ministry a few years ago) is an invention of Dutch, white, male politicians. Her entire image has been built to suit the male, white narrative of the “educated savage” that had to be rescued from her oppressors. Also, coincidentally, I just wrote about the Dutch political style I like to call “Politely irate”, which is the preferred rhetoric of those white, male politicians who created her. The article makes a point of noting “Precisely because Ayaan has been indefatigable in expressing her views \u2013 in spite of the never ending threats to her own life \u2013 makes her even more courageous and brave. That she does so in such an elegant, calm and intelligent manner does not belie the importance or urgency of her message<\/em>”.
