The gathering takes place every year and it is a meeting point for women activists in social justice, feminism, reproductive justice, etc. It is organized for women and by women. Thousands of them get together and participate in round tables, workshops, conferences, etc. Traditionally, the final march throughout the organizing city highlights issues of reproductive justice and, more specifically, the right to chose (abortion is illegal in Argentina).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Every year, without fault, the Catholic Church sends requests for their most active and rancid groups of men to stand on the way of these marches and stop them through whatever means are necessary. This photo above, taken during the closing march of 2010 is an illustration of their tactics. Usually the men scream abuse at the women and, in some cases, get physically violent with them. During the 2010 event, the local Bishop held a mass to &ldquo;exorcise the evil from the feminists that were claiming for abortion rights&rdquo; (<a href=\"http:\/\/webcache.googleusercontent.com\/search?q=cache:Lcl4yxgyZpUJ:www.eldiario24.com\/nota.php%3Fid%3D207866+&amp;cd=2&amp;hl=en&amp;ct=clnk\">cache of the post in Spanish<\/a> because original link seems to be broken).<\/p>\n<p>They have now extended their tactics to the US. Brace yourselves!
