The iPad Newspaper unveiled, bringing bigotry, xenophobia and a good dose of moral panic to tablet computers worldwide. Murdoch and Steve Jobs are working together to make us all a bit more fearful:
Intended to combine “a tabloid sensibility with a broadsheet intelligence”, the publication represents Murdoch’s determination to push the newspaper business beyond the realm of print.
A tabloid sensibility? Very well, then. I expect a good number of stories about Muslim terrorists, illegal immigrants, single mothers, the demise of the nuclear family, the pornification of society and how sex workers are going to single handily end civilization as we know it. But rest assured that it will all be tastefully designed, since Apple engineers are supporting the enterprise.
