Flimsy people: I am on your case

They email me, often recommended by an acquaintance or friend. They need something work related, something related to services I usually render in exchange of money. They express a need and ask if I would be willing to look into it. I answer yes, I would be willing, shall we discuss further and perhaps meet (when they happen to be local to me).

Then I never hear from them again.

At this point, usually after three or four days have passed, I resend my original reply wondering if maybe it got caught in spam filters?

I never hear from them again.

What is it with the ability of total strangers to make me waste time? And worse, not even have the decency to answer that they no longer are interested (it can happen) or they changed their minds. But no, they just leave you there hanging…

For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone. Thank you.  Follow me on Twitter for new post updates.
