“Georgia state Rep. Bobby Franklin, R-Marietta, introduced a bill that would do away with drivers’ licenses.” Lucky for me! I can’t pass the test. Sure, I can’t drive either, but this makes my life so much easier. Seriously though, if driving is an inalienable right…shouldn’t flying also be an inalienable right? Can I fly a jet now? Do I just need permission from my parents?

Heh, that’s one way of putting it. On the other hand, I would like to know what these loons would do when people start dying in road accidents due to lack of proper tools to examine driving competence. Or you know, those insurance companies (that the kind of legislators behind bills like this are so keen to support) refuse to continue operating because insuring a bunch of people who cannot drive is not going to be profitable.

I don’t think any of these Tea Partiers actually considers the implications of the legislation they propose.

For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone.
