Creep of the day
Thanks to Elly (of Quiet Riot Girl fame), I’ve been introduced to Leonard Sax, self appointed expert on “girls” and gender scholar extraordinaire, author of Why Gender Matters, a pseudo scientific text on the biological imperatives that define gender and how parents should take care of “little girls” so that they become wholesome women.
Because Mr Sax is a male, white scientific authority (ED: at least in his own mind), he answers the question “Why are so many girls lesbian or bisexual” for Psychology Today. The ensuing text is a charming combination of moral panic (porn! lesbians!) and veiled homophobia (the story came out during the Constance McMillen discrimination lawsuit, which he conveniently labels as “noise”). And he closes the piece by asking the heteronormative question that one should expect from such characters: “I wish Constance McMillen and her girlfriend all the best. But I have to wonder: Are there so many girl-girl couples out there because that’s truly who they are – or because the guys are such losers?”.
For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone. Thank you. Follow me on Twitter for new post updates.
