GPOY here I am with Norma Panduro, curandera (healer) of the Peruvian Shipibo Nation in 2007. Norma passed away, collecting plants in the Peruvian Amazon, where she lived, two months after this photo was taken. Related to my backlash against Jezebel’s latest trivialization of Native American beliefs, Norma taught me more about the meaning of Animal and Plant spirits in her culture than any encyclopedia I read on the subject.

For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception.
