Ha!
I was researching Brooklyn cobblers on Yelp and I came across a review that kept talking about how scary the owner of one shop is: Jacob the cobbler is terrifying…I am too scared to bring Jacob my really cheap shoes that I just want to get through another winter.
What a strange review, I thought. And then I looked at the username.
Reading this, plus her blog and posts like this (from just a moment ago), she seems to be obsessed with a few things: vintage clothing, an excessive use of flowery language and a lifestyle more suitable for the 19th century. She seems to make every effort to try to bring the Victorian era back to life (an engagement party with twee little sandwiches and porcelain dishes and twee little bonbons? How charming!). Is it a surprise to anyone that someone who wants to live her life as if she was Victorian would be casually racist, claiming all Asian people look the same? She hasn’t yet been introduced to colonialism, you insensitive people! You need to give her a few centuries to catch up!
For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone.
