I appreciate the intention but I am doing quite well in that regard. This part I left out of my post because I didn’t want to go on and on for too long: I work in marketing. And since the time that the SEO nonsense came up, I always advised my customers not to jump on that bandwagon. Instead, I’ve always contended, they should make every effort to create meaningful content that people want to link to, discuss, comment on. It is a strategy that takes longer to build but gives much better results, not just in web presence, but in respect for your audience and for the content you produce and the product you are trying to create attention for.
That’s why I do not like gimmicky marketing schemes. They might give short term results, but usually at the expense of the respect people might have for you or, in the case of businesses or organizations, for your brand.
For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone. Thank you. Follow me on Twitter for new post updates.
