I just read your post about feeling like your words don’t make a difference. I just wanted to let you know that I live in an American-Dutch community, where life in the Netherlands is seen as “utopia” and my college encourages us to move there to experience tolerance in all forms. I just wanted to let you know because of your blog, I was able to write a paper stating that the entire program was built on false premises, and had the program re-written. Your words have changed my education.
I wrote what I wrote last night out of frustration. I now realize it was probably a mistake because it might have come across as attention seeking. While that wasn’t my intention, I LOATH to come across as “I MATTER I MATTER LOOK AT ME TELL ME I MATTER”. However, the outpouring of support and loving words was amazing, humbling and made my cold, bitter, snarky heart melt.
I am leaving this out here not only to thank Emily but because if I ever need a reminder, I now have a place to look. Even a bitchypants like me needs some love every now and then 🙂
For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone. Thank you. Follow me on Twitter for new post updates.
