Who suddenly crossed paths with this Tumblr. I know there are several of you who read regularly. However, I am talking specifically to the ones who are visiting as a result of my strong Anti Black Pete stance as of this past few weeks.
Now, I know how tempted you are to leave a comment on this very Tumblr. I know your fingers are itching to prove me wrong. You do not just want to make me see “the truth” about racism, but you are certain that I AM OH SO WRONG and you, random Dutch person I have never met ARE GOING TO CONVINCE ME OF WHY I AM WRONG! and to that purpose, you are going to leave a comment here. BECAUSE YOUR WORDS ARE SO POWERFUL AND WELL CRAFTED, YOUR RHETORIC SO AMAZING AND AWE INSPIRING THAT YOUR ONE COMMENT IS GOING TO SWING ME AWAY FROM MY ANTI RACIST ACTIVISM AND I WILL FINALLY BECOME LIKE YOU!

I don’t give a fuck what you have to say. I have seen all the excuses already. I have also heard them in person. Moreover, I was once told by a very old and frail Dutch aunt in law that it was good I didn’t have children because I would surely bring them up to NOT FOLLOW THIS DEAR DUTCH TRADITION, WHICH YOU KNOW, IT WOULD BE A SHAME! Because if I had children, I would raise them to be little Black Pete haters like the foreigner I am! So, imagine if I even heard that without having my head explode, it is safe to say I HAVE HEARD ALL OF YOUR RACIST APOLOGIA.
So, I am going to save you the grief: do not bother commenting because I am going to delete your comment. I do not care what you have to say. I am not interested in hearing your “opinions”. Not all opinions are equal. “Opinions” that seek to oppress and dismiss the very valid complains from minorities living in this country have no place in this blog. So, let me reiterate this: DO NOT COMMENT TO TELL ME HOW I AM WRONG AND BLACK PETE IS NOT RACIST. Alternatively, DO NOT COMMENT TO INFORM ME HOW THIS “TRADITION” IS VALID AND ACCEPTABLE.
I will delete your comment. Just because I can. And just like native Dutch people have been dismissing us for oh, I don’t know, decades. Take it as a very small and inconsequential case of restorative justice. The only kind I can afford ourselves in my limited blogging capacity.
