Oh, Pamela, you see God; I see helmet hair

Because I tend to become slightly fascinated by fringe social trends, the Virgin Lips movement that I only discovered yesterday, moved me to search a bit more. It turns out that it is nowhere near a new phenomenon. This movie, from 1998, seems to be one of the Christian pop culture items that kicked off the movement’s renaissance (not kissing until marriage is probably a custom that was abandoned at least a century ago by mainstream Christianity).

An IMDB reviewer succinctly describes the entire film’s ethos:

One value that was central to the film was the idea that one doesn’t kiss until the pastor says, “You may now kiss your bride.”

Other reviewers (and without seeing the film, I might be inclined to agree with them), suggest it is only suitable for viewing as a MST3K experience.
