Ramblings
Couple of things:
1) My blogging silence is due to deliveries. No, not baby deliveries, but customer related projects. Work means no wandering into the bottomless pit of pop culture criticism. I suspect it’s for the better because that takes me to number 2.
2) From time to time I experience burn out from reading “stuff”. It’s a mixture of observing how media reports on the world at large and how (badly, sadly) the world at large functions for most people. I sometimes feel desperation because I want to do more, something, whatever, and I face the same constrains that every other person who cares does. It can be a paralyzing feeling sometimes.
3) I sometimes suffer from anxiety that can range from very mild, almost unnoticeable to paralyzing in the most extreme cases. When the feeling of despair mentioned in number 2 kicks in, the anxiety increases exponentially.
4) Totally unrelated to any of the above, I am growing more discontent with Alternet as a news source. Supposedly, this is the left’s answer to Fox News’ partisan reporting, but lately I have noticed a change in tone that I cannot quite put my finger on but it seems dangerously reminiscent of some Alex Jones rhetoric (slightly more rational, though and more high brow than the bottom of the barrel of Jones’ conspiracies). It’s like a more “middle class” and urbanite version of Jones, but not entirely what I would expect from rational political analysis from the left. Maybe it’s just me and I am seeing conspiracy ghosts where there are none.
5) I’ll go with the always effective silencing tactic of “It’s my blog and I’ll do what I want” to justify the potential downfall into posts filled with nothing but trivia. You’ve been warned.
For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone. Thank you. Follow me on Twitter for new post updates.
