That’s what Tracie’s blog was about. That was her entire blog. It was full of shit like that. Not only was it not password protected, it was linked to on Jezebel. She had posts where she put up links to Jezebel comments she thought were stupid and made fun of them (not unlike what many of the…
Yeah. Honestly I know this is getting circulated because Moe is an asshole and examples are current, but rather than tumblr trading more evidence of Tracie’s obvious bullshit (or in conjunction with if you like laughing at bullshit, I’m not here to judge) among a small peer group, the next time she does something racist or abelist on the internet, I’m guessing at 4:33 PM today because she’s due, can we all try and forward the current piece of nonsense along with past indiscretions to feminism, racism and etc. other activist blogs like, say, Tiger Beatdown and Racialicious to get some heat put on her blatant disrespect and poor excuse for “journalism” or whatever Jez thinks it does these days? It took a Racialicious article citing another blog coming from tipsters to get an apology for the Trail of Tears bit of dickishness. Jessica’s fauxpology for the Paris disaster only came after other blogs and high profile feminists called her out. I’m all for tumblr as a way to get the word out about important issues, but the next time we’re all passing around a TracieFAIL lets all stick a link in Sadie Doyle’s askhole.
Meh. I’ll continue to include pointless bitching and casual conversation in my Tumblr to the degrees that I see fit. I’ll also continue to discuss things which are not breaking news, are tiresome, devoid of context, and boring, just as if I’m writing a personal blog, and not performing a service or running a business.
I’ll continue to take complaints and advice on whether my politics are shitty, in their intent, delivery, or otherwise, but I’m not going to add “newsworthy” or “breaking” to my list of expectations for my Tumblr.
Your pleas have fallen on uninterested, and slightly annoyed, ears.
Indeed. I am not here to provide “news worthy” material. I am here to provide commentary on whatever problematic stuff I come across. And I am blunt like this: anyone who doesn’t like it can unfollow. Not because I am oh so superior but because, I am sorry if I cannot meet everyone’s expectations. I call on media figures bullshit because a) media people have to be held accountable (not matter how new or old their quotes are) and b) because these people pass for allies in progressive causes. These people are quoted as representative of, at least, a certain kind of politics and feminism. Context matters. It allows us to provide a framework to what we read and how we interpret it.
The quote I provided was relevant to me, and apparently, by the amount of commentary and notes it gathers, it was relevant to a whole bunch of people. If anything else, it exposes a side of a person who is “famous” (at least in internet terms). How is this different from what every blogger out there does? Also, time and time again she denies being a racist or ableist. I even went as far as confronting Nick Denton about it and nobody took responsibility over this. So, in so far as I come across proof that I am not making up these accusations, I will post such quotes.
Again, if someone like Glenn Beck (and obvious easy target) says reprehensible stuff, he is quoted endlessly and merciless (as he should), why should we hold Jezebel writers to a different standard? And why should we evaluate the worthiness of such posts based on some “newsworthy” standard? If it is NEW to me, I will post it. And that’s all there is to it, really…
For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone. Thank you. Follow me on Twitter for new post updates.
