Stating the obvious

Amazon’s price for paperback version of Sara Ahmed’s “The Promise of Happiness”: $19.61 (eligible for free shipping)

Amazon’s price for the Kindle edition: $20.75

I cannot, for the life of me, understand this logic. Sure there must be some economic advantage to downloading an electronic version of a book versus a paperback that requires the use of paper, ink, labor to assemble, fuel to transport, etc? I know others have done analysis of this stuff before but it still upsets me. And there is no amount of rational argument that can justify this price difference.

For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone. Thank you.  Follow me on Twitter for new post updates.
