The rumors are real: rebel film director Abel Ferrara plans to shoot a film about the Dominique Strass-Kahn sex scandal – with legendary French actor Gérard Depardieu as the lead and Isabelle Adjani cast as his wife. Filming could begin as early as June, Ferrara has told Le Monde.

I expect this to be a trein wreck of epic proportions. Ferrara loves shocking aesthetics and one of his most memorable cinematic moments is when, in Bad Lieutenant (which he directed some time in the early ‘90s), Harvey Keitel plays a cop that stops two young women for a traffic check and forces them to strip while he masturbates. So, I wonder if the director plans to use the same male gaze approach to treating Strauss-Kahn or if he’ll be more sympathetic to the victims.
