The upside world: a scene from Atlas Shrugged movie
This scene caused me a serious moment of cognitive dissonance. Dagny (one of the main characters, who is the VP of the fictional corporation) harangues a Union boss because he doesn’t allow for jobs to be created, he is against building railroads and he doesn’t give people “choices”.
Since when do Ayn Rand followers stand for all that? Have I been reading the wrong news and these people do, indeed, stand for choice, freedom and job creation?! Or maybe “choices” only applies to corporate choice (as in, choose between brand A or brand B) and not for other fundamental choices like, I don’t know, reproductive choice or the choice to marry one’s life partner regardless of their gender.
For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone.
