Tina Fey’s prayer for her daughter
The wording is definitely problematic. Paedophiles are very good at identifying children who are more vulnerable than others though, and I think that might be what Fey is getting at here. It’s still toeing the victim blaming line though, which is very, very not good. People get abused first and foremost because their abusers are flawed, not because they did anything to draw their attention.
I also get why mothers (my own in particular) pray for “no tattoos”, but I still hate the stigma. Like, hey, I’ve got a bunch of really nice ones and I’m still smart, educated, motivated, and a contributor to the good bits of society! Whoah! Mindbend!
heh, I am very visibly inked as well. But I chose to ignore that bit because if you asked my mother, she would tell you my tattoos and piercings were a source of many a sleepless nights for her.
