We are proud to present a collective statement that is, to our knowledge (and we would love to be wrong about this) the first of its kind. In this post you’ll find a statement of feminist solidarity with trans* rights, signed by nearly 100 feminists/womanists from at least eleven different countries [it’s now 158 signatories – 150 individuals and 8 organizations – from 13 countries!] who wish to affirm that feminism/womanism can and should be a home for trans* people as well as cis.
A Statement of Trans-Inclusive Feminism and Womanism | feministsfightingtransphobia
I am one of the feminists who signed this statement.
Please click through and read it in its totality. I am not posting the statement here because I’d like people to go to the site, read it and, if they so wish, contact the collective that created it to add their names to the list.
Please, spread the word about this statement. Share it, talk about it, blog it, post it on Facebook or Twitter. I believe it is of top importance that resistance to transphobia is clear and visible. If you can, I ask that you do your part by creating awareness and standing in support.
For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone. Thank you. Follow me on Twitter for new post updates.
