Women on Web
I am putting this out here because until now, I thought it was a kind of “well known service”, since it seems it isn’t, and someone might benefit from having this info out there, I would like to point you all to “Women on Web”, brought by the same Dutch NGO that created “Women on Waves” (the first female managed ship to provide safe abortions, by obgyns in international waters where anti abortion laws do not have jurisdiction). After dealing with a bitter legal battle in Ireland, where they were forbidden from entering the port with their boat to meet the women that needed services, this NGO decided to start women on web
This online medical abortion service helps women around the world gain access to a safe medical abortion (with the pills mifepristone and misoprostol) in order to reduce the number of deaths due to unsafe abortions.
This website refers you to licensed doctor, who can provide you with a medical abortion after a consultation. A medical abortion requires two medicines (mifepristone and misoprostol) that will be delivered to you. A medical abortion has a success rate of more than 97%. The abortion can be done safely at home as long you have good information and access to emergency medical care should complications occur.
The doctor can only help you if :
* you live in a country where access to safe abortion is restricted
* you are less than 9 weeks pregnant
* you have no severe illnessesBefore starting the consultation, do a pregnancy test and an ultrasound, if possible. The consultation consists of around 25 questions. At the end of the consultation you will be asked to give permission to disclose all your information to the doctor. All information will remain confidential.
I am in no way affiliated with them but stuff like this is why I am happy I live in The Netherlands.
For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone.
