You know what bugs me?
That even those of us who are not Christian (or who have suffered because of certain ideologies promoted by some branches of Christianity) are supposed to accept that very Christian ideas like redemption, change, sin and forgiveness become part of mainstream tenets of feminist thought.
You know dude, I don’t believe in redemption (not in the Christian sense because ugh, again, I am not Christian), so when I am supposed to “forgive” some “sin”, that was not committed against me, I get very very itchy. Also, I am unsure but I thought that “forgiveness by proxy” was not a “thing”, as in, it is not our place to “redeem” someone on behalf of a third party that was victimized by the abuser. Someone please remind me why current feminist discourse has naturalized these ideas and we are discussing them as if they were legitimate?
