Accountability

Do You Want a Popular Tumblr Post?

Quote something I said several years ago on my old personal blog—now password protected, so you’ll need to take time out of your day hounding The Wayback Machine (or you could just email me for the log in)—post it on your Tumblr and there you go. Also, if you mail me a self-addressed, stamped envelope, I can send you some of my used toilet paper, if you think it’ll make your own shit smell better. Don’t say I never did anything for you faggots!

Edgy! Real edgy and smart! That’s how we like our media figures, right?

My shit sucks, Ms. Tracie Egan Morrisey (racist, ableist blogger), however, I make an effort not to force other people to smell it. I also make an effort not to oppress people with my language or with my shitty politics. When and if I am called on my privilege, my first reaction is not to insult the person calling me out. At least, I bother to listen. I also examine my positions so that they cause the least damage possible.

You, on the other hand, have made a career out of telling gross personal stories, getting drunk on TV and being deliberately offensive (not in a George Carlin way, no matter what you tell yourself). You are one step below Julia Allison in the “hipster media scene”, which is, let’s be honest, quite low (Julia Allison got a Wired cover; you, on the other hand, are the subject of jokes on Tumblr, perhaps that fact alone will put things in perspective).

I will continue quoting your ableist, racist language as I see fit. I might not have as much exposure as you do (after all, you write for Jezebel), but you are a contaminating agent in my media landscape and as such, I will treat you with the contempt you deserve. You might fancy yourself as a “girly media type” (as your short Twitter description states), but I fancy you as the mold rotting my breakfast. Continue providing me material, Ms. Egan Morrisey. I look forward to see what you come up with.

For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone. Thank you.  Follow me on Twitter for new post updates.
