In view of this item about the guy who asked for one million dollars (and got it), I should start a campaign: Make it possible that I attend Burning Man this year.
Since the rich and famous are often spotted at Burning Man camps, I could aim my quest for sponsorship in two different ways. On the one hand, I could aim for someone who wishes to increase their street cred by hanging out with a foul mouthed Latina (minorities are not very visible at Burning Man so I might have a potential angle there; I promise to throw random words in Spanish when I speak publicly, for instance) or appeal to someone’s sense of charity by promoting myself as a “Good Cause” (i.e. sponsor my trip, as an opinionated socio political blogger and in turn, I will make the sponsor look generous).
I mean, the guy got one million bucks. The total cost of my Burning Man adventures couldn’t be higher than what? 5 grand? I see a business plan somewhere in this idea.
