Kumbia Queers – Chica de Calendario

I just realized that in all this time I’ve never seen anyone ever post a video of the Kumbia Queers. So, I am setting to correct this pronto!

The Kumbia Queers are a group of queer women from Argentina who, as a response to the sexism and heteronormativity in the cumbia genre started a band to challenge those notions while creating some ass shaking tunes such as this one. Their breakthrough song was “La Isla con Chikas”, a queer version of Madonna’s La Isla Bonita.

For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception.
