Los Rakas have a new track! They just got the Discovery Award at the Latin Alternative Music Conference in NY and they might as well be hitting it big time in the near future. I really like them. Not only because it’s the kind of Latinidad I can relate to but because they certainly lack the problematic aspects of many dancehall/ hip hop artists (I would be hard pressed to find the kind of ingrained misogyny or homophobia which can be so pervasive in the genre). Also, their videos are better social commentary than a whole bunch of documentaries. My favorite song from them is still Mi Barrio.
