Did Vogue Italia take down the slave earrings yet???

Heh, of course not. They simply renamed them “ethnic earrings” and provided a thorough explanation so that the racist connotations remain intact:

“The Italian word, which defines those kind of earrings, should instead be translated into ‘ethnical style earrings’. Again, we are sorry about this mistake which we have just amended in the website.” The Washington Post points out that ‘in Italian, the style of the earring is described as “schiave o creole.’ ‘Schiave’ translates to slave in English.”

For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone.
