mathponies:

The Great and Powerful Trixie invented three more Reidemeister moves with her magic. So awed was the matheponical community at that they named a knot invariant after the Great and Powerful Trixie. The Trixie invariant Tx(K) of a knot is the amount of unicorn magic is necessary to transform it into the trivial knot. It should be noted that the Great and Powerful Trixie only requires ln(Tx(K) + 1) units of unicorn magic to perform the same task because she is the Great and Powerful Trixie.

MATHEMAGICALLY ENCHANTED PONIES. It’s a thing. On Tumblr. Where all the geek and all the Ponies merge for a new, unknown level of magic.

(H/T to Alexis for bringing the rainbows to my attention).

For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone. Thank you.  Follow me on Twitter for new post updates.
