She could have used the opportunity to bring up issues of gender and representations but instead, her post is “HAR HAR HAR A man is playing the part”. Sure, it’s the Real Housewives franchise, something pretty inane already. But instead, she deliberately posts a photo of a female gendered person and goes on about “it’s a GUY!”. Is it? Even if the person is using a female name, dressed in female clothes, etc. Then perhaps the issue could have been framed not by saying that “a man” (who for all intents and purposes looks like a woman) is playing a “woman” (i.e. pretending to be something he is not) but by pointing that they have hired actors to play roles, etc. However, because this is Tracie, there is no nuance and no sensitivity.
For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone.
