There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.

Ernest Hemingway  (via untitledbookstore)

I think this wonderful aforism is not really suitable for the 21st century. Let me fix it:

There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter a computer and bleed.check Tumblr just this once. And then go to Twitter to see if there is a party tonight but then engage in 2 hours of mindless drivel about the benefit of cotton underwear. Then go back to Tumblr for one last refresh, which quickly turns into a three hour back and forth argument, including profuse research of Wikipedia links to back up your position. Then, just this once, double check Facebook to see if there was any change of plans for the aforementioned party. Maybe “Like” a few posts and listen to a few songs your friends posted. And then it is time to get dressed and finally go out.

See? No need to “bleed” at all. Poor Hemingway he had to endure so much suffering back in his time.

For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone. Thank you.  Follow me on Twitter for new post updates.
