Trying to create a budget fucking sucks

nanner:

Especially when necessary objects, like gas and the light bill, vary so much.

And a monthly budget is kinda silly when you’re still stuck living paycheck to paycheck.

FML.

Well, this is why the current capitalist model works so well. If the vast majority of us lives paycheck to paycheck, our very livelihood depends on the job. No rebellion, no walking away from abuses, no career changes for most people, etc. And there are an awful lot of people living like this (myself included, although I am in the privileged position of living in a double income home). So yeah, what makes my blood boil is lack of class solidarity. Look, if someone is living paycheck to paycheck, with no safety net, I don’t care how big that paycheck is, you are still working class. Because you are not in control of (to use a popular Marxist term), the means of production. Many middle class folks would do well to learn this basic concept.

For the past decade and a half I have been making all my content available for free (and never behind a paywall) as an ongoing practice of ephemeral publishing. This site is no exception. If you wish to help offset my labor costs, you can donate on Paypal or you can subscribe to Patreon where I will not be putting my posts behind a lock but you'd be helping me continue making this work available for everyone.
